A Leicester based halal food delivery startup, which was born out of the pandemic, is celebrating its 1,000th order.
TheHalalFoodShop.com launched in May 2020 by former nightclub promoter Bilal Khan as a way of helping the Muslim community access their halal diet.
The company sells halal certified products and aims to become the UK’s largest online halal food shop.
Despite initially thinking all of his customers would come from cities with a high Muslim population, he has been surprised to have received orders from Inverness, Falmouth and Londonderry.
Bilal, who in his previous career was responsible for bringing hip hop megastar Drake to Leicester, says he aims to expand by setting up Halal Food Shop distribution centres in Europe, the US and Canada, where halal groceries can be scarce.
