Leicester has been ranked as one of the best cities in the UK for new businesses.

The ‘Demos-PwC Good Growth for Cities’ report puts Leicester fourth, just behind London, the London Boroughs and Brighton.

With an ‘above average’ rating of 0.61, Leicester tops the best place in the East Midlands for new businesses and beats cities like Birmingham (0.11) and Manchester (0.18).

The report looks at the priorities of communities across the UK, and how local leaders can play a greater role in delivering inclusive economic growth in their areas.

As well as new businesses, it analyses work-life balance, health and housing.

Leicester is placed 20th overall in the rankings which examines the UK’s 52 largest cities.
