A new online community for Artificial Intelligence enthusiasts has been set up in Leicester.

Lestah AI aims to bring together professionals, students, and curious minds to explore the world of AI in a relaxed, friendly setting.

Jamie Cropley created the group after feeling a disconnect with like-minded individuals and withing 48hours had more than 20 people join his meetup group.

He said:

“There seem to be AI-driven people out there in Leicester and even people who just generally use the likes of Generative AI now in daily use, spanning into other areas like marketing and other industries.

“But connecting and networking with such people here I have always found difficult around AI compared to other bigger cities.”

The monthly gatherings will be to discuss the latest AI trends, share ideas and network.

James is now looking for a free venue in the city for two to two-and-a-half hours to host his first event. He added:

“I have been using sites like Facebook and Nextdoor in my local community, occasionally helping people with AI tools like ChatGPT for things like CV writing and solving things like DIY-related problems.

“Hence, the idea also aims to showcase demos to a local community and perhaps engage with other people who are more knowledgeable about AI in Leicester, bringing the two more together.”
