A Loughborough University graduate has been named the Digital Technology winner at the tenth annual Made in the Midlands Awards.
Alex Nash, the founder of Alcuris, beat 63 other firms to the award which celebrates the region’s most innovative and dynamic manufacturers.
Alex’s product is the Alcuris Memohub – a telecare system which combines an alarm system, activity monitoring and carer logging in a single product.
He came up with the idea after seeing his Grandfather develop Alzheimer’s disease. When visiting his Grandad he realised how easily he could forget to do certain tasks; take his tablets, lock the front door, or inject his insulin before eating. That’s when he decided to form Alcuris, an assistive living startup.
Alex will now compete in the Insider’s Made in the UK awards in November.
