An entrepreneur who took part in the Leicester Startups Accelerator has launched a new site to help Ukrainian refugees access free immigration advice.
Robert Flint from Rutland launched ‘Ukraine Pass’ to help those fleeing the war through the complicated visa and immigration process.
The platform allows users to speak via live chat in English, Polish, Ukrainian or Russian (or email the team), after which they are referred to an immigration firm in any European country which is able to provide pro-bono advice.
Flint said:
“Ukrainian refugees may have family in other European countries but face complex visa and immigration barriers before they can be reunited. If we can help them access that advice, it will be a small way to show them that they are not forgotten – that they are part of the European family and are welcome.”
The entrepreneur says the site is very much at the testing stage but once he sees demand for it, he would need help from an existing charity, or someone experienced in setting up a charity, to take on the bulk of the work. His business Adviserly – a startup which connects people to legal advisers from around the world, is building the network of immigration lawyers who can help the refugees – for free.
