A number of startups, including the winner of the latest Leicester Startups Accelerator, have been named winners at the Leicestershire Innovation Awards 2024.
Katie Michaels founder of Moti Me took the title of Innovation in Sport, Wellbeing & Accessibility, whilst Thomas Constant of The Bug Factory and Simon Sansome of Snowball Community won Innovation in Food & Drink and University Student Innovation respectively.
A record number of entries were submitted this year, with judges reviewing almost 100 nominations from local businesses, non-profits, researchers, education, and other organisations.
For the first time this year’s awards were led by the LLEP Business Gateway Growth Hub, which will transfer its functions over to Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council from April.
The business-led strategic body has helped to bring almost £860 million of investment into Leicester and Leicestershire between 2011 and 2024.
