Leicester chocolatier Peter Gardner has announced that a new version of his 100% cacao fruit juice is now available.

Babao Cacao, a drink which uses discarded parts of the cacao fruit, was launched on Kickstarter at the start of the year aiming to disrupt the £3,5bn healthy drinks industry.

Now the Coco Amore founder has released a sparkling iteration of his innovation. He said:

“After a long year of development and trial & error interlaced with many, many mistakes.

“I’m exited to announce it’s finally available and I’ve made a sparkling version too!

“Works well as a Premium tequila mixer which I needed after the many, many mistakes.”

According to the entrepreneur only 30% of one cacao fruit is ever used (for chocolate), whilst the rest is wasted. This amounts to 10 million metric tonnes of wasted fruit each year.
