The popular Leicester chocolatiers Cocoa Amore is launching a brand new healthy juice drink on Kickstarter.
Babao Cacao is a single-ingredient fruit water which uses the discarded pulp of the cacao fruit.
The drink comes in both still and sparkling varieties, and aims to be the first of this kind in the UK.
Founder Peter Gardner is aiming to raise £4,900 to outsource production and begin scaling for wholesale with an aim to launch by this autumn. He said:
“The money raised will be used for bottling of the first commercial run of our recipe.
“Our aim is to be first to market in the UK with a Cacaofruit juice drink but we might fall short of this if we can’t get it to market soon as Cacaofruit becomes more widely known as an ingredient.
“Current global economic conditions pose a threat to prices of ingredients, packaging and transport. We are continuously reviewing this and seeking the best prices possible to secure the future of the project.”
